SUSTAINABILITY AT BETT
Waste reduction and recycling
One of the biggest sustainability challenges for exhibitions like Bett is reducing the waste that comes from hundreds of stand spaces and activations. We’ve reduced the building of single-use stands by offering an alternative, show-ready solution to our exhibitors which gets reused across multiple events.
Where possible, our features are built with materials which can be reused or are made from sustainable sources. Feature structures, like our theatres, are kept in storage and reused where possible.
Building more sustainable signage
- The majority of our signage is digital, reducing the need for printed materials.
- Printed, rigged banners you see on the show floor are made using a recyclable and sustainable material called Kavalan instead of PVC. Outside the show floor, 95% of the printed banners you’ll see across the ExCeL are PVC free.
- We limit the handing out of physical brochures and guides at the show, instead supplying these online. We encourage our exhibitors to join us and use QR codes instead of printed materials where possible.
FUN FACT...
In some cases, leftover materials and resources can be reused across shows or made into something else! For example, our carpets are no longer sent to landfill but instead made into plastic pellets which are then used in manufacturing.
We’re always looking into how Bett can be more sustainable. If you think you can help or have a suggestion, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at exhibitor@bettshow.com.
Our venue
The ExCeL London, where Bett is hosted, takes measures to make the venue as sustainable as possible.
- In 2022, ExCeL London was certified to be a carbon neutral venue.
- The ExCeL is home to one of the largest commercial wormeries, containing 300,000 worms to recycle food waste.
- 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources and all gas is accounted for through Voluntary Carbon Offsets (VCOs).
- The ExCeL sends zero waste to landfill and has done for more than a decade! The venue works with Community Food Enterprise, an organisation which takes surplus food and furniture from the show and distributes it across local community projects in Newham.

World-class and conscious content
Sustainability is one of our six main show themes, which is reflected in our incredible content lineup.
In 2023, Bett launched the Design 4 SDGs Challenge, which challenged children across the UK to come up with solutions to real world problems, such as climate change. These solutions were then presented at the Bett Arena. We’re excited to welcome the challenge back for Bett 2025.
Our partners
We’re proud to partner with Every Child Online, a charity with the mission of tackling digital poverty and improving the online and digital education of children in the UK. Bett and Every Child Online have teamed up to help close the digital divide by running Pass It On at Bett.
At Bett 2025, Every Child Online will be taking donations of devices to be refurbished and donated to children who currently have no access to online learning. They’ll be accepting devices of all ages, with and without hard drives. Any unusable devices will be broken down for spare parts and fully recycled. Make sure to visit them in the North Hall to take part!
