Paul is Senior Fellow of AdvanceHE and joined Teesside’s School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies as Digital Innovation Manager in July 2025.  In previous role at Teesside, he co-led the vision for the digital transformation of learning and teaching at an institutional scale, helping Teesside gain recognition as a sector-leader in digital learning.  As Local Conference Chair, Paul co-leads Teesside’s flagship Future Facing Learning & AI in Higher Education Conference, also co-leading a newly formed Research Centre of the same name. 

Paul is co-author of the Digital Learning Design Framework and Toolkit (supported by Jisc and published by EDUCAUSE), a freely available sector resource with global reach that has influenced learning design practice internationally.  His work around digital transformation and culture change led to him working alongside around 20 other leading experts as part of Jisc’s ‘Beyond Blended’ expert advisory group from 2022-23.  Paul has presented at numerous events including Westminster Higher Education Forum, Ahead by Bett, Jisc’s DigiFest and the QAA Member Network Conference where he has spoken about a range of topics from digital transformation, AI and assessment, learning design, digital literacy and driving culture change.
