Pen to iPad: Goodnotes revolutionises digital learning!
Goodnotes, an AI powered digital note-taking application, has had a remarkable journey since its inception back in 2011. As a company dedicated to transforming how individuals take notes and manage information, they’ve continuously evolved to meet the needs of their users, which now includes Goodnotes Classroom, a dedicated app designed for educators!
Goodnotes was born from the visionary mind of Steven Chan, its founder and CEO. As a self-taught coder since the age of 10, Steven's tech journey began long before the era of YouTube tutorials. As an international student in Australia, Steven envisioned a revolutionary solution to his frustration with endless piles of paper from redoing maths proofs. When he got his hands on the first iPad on release day, he saw a future where digital could replace paper. Driven by this vision, he developed the first version of Goodnotes entirely by himself, marking the beginning of a groundbreaking digital note-taking application, destined to transform how people take and manage notes worldwide.
Goodnotes and Bett!
Goodnotes' journey at Bett began in 2023 when they attended the show without a specific product for teachers. At the time, they were primarily a consumer app that was organically adopted by thousands of educational institutions worldwide. They recognised Bett as an opportunity to introduce themselves and establish a presence within the global education community. Rather than diving straight into exhibiting, they integrated their love for coffee into their participation and sponsored the coffee shop - a great way to soft launch their brand at Bett.
Fast forward to Bett UK 2024 and Goodnotes has seen tremendous growth, with over 15,000 schools worldwide using their app, and this number continues to rise rapidly. Their presence at Bett has evolved significantly, with each year bringing greater engagement and innovation, including expanded sponsorships and keynote sessions to introduce new products like Goodnotes Classroom. At Bett UK 2024, they also delivered an inspiring talk in The Arena featuring Lord Jim Knight, former Minister of Schools, and a passionate advocate of the app. He shared how he uses Goodnotes for his parliamentary meetings and urged others to adopt it.
Joining him was Rowena Chung, Director of Product for Education and Enterprise, who announced a new educational product. They showcased a moving video from Faulkner House in London, where students use Goodnotes daily, highlighting its transformative impact on education.
“This session really underscored Goodnotes' commitment to innovation and its growing influence in education and beyond. Something that we look forward to showcasing very soon with the launch of Goodnotes Classroom on the 12 August.” Dr. Minh Tran - Vice President of Operations at Goodnotes.
Goodnotes Classroom launches in 10 days!
The visionary company is excited to announce the launch of Goodnotes Classroom on 12 August - just 10 days away! Designed specifically for teachers, this new app builds on the beloved digital note-taking experience of Goodnotes, enhancing it with features tailored to educational workflows. Recognising how teachers were adapting Goodnotes for classroom use, the development team spent the past 18 months collaborating closely with educators. They transformed an office in Hong Kong into a dedicated classroom space, allowing teachers and students to test the new product extensively.
“Goodnotes Classroom brings all the handwriting, collaborative and AI features of Goodnotes, with a new interface optimised for teaching. Teachers can now pilot their classes, create lessons, assign and grade work in real-time and even display student iPads on a big screen, all while enjoying the seamless Goodnotes experience. This innovative app is set to revolutionise classroom management and teaching methods, empowering educators with cutting-edge AI features.” Dr. Minh Tran - Vice President of Operations at Goodnotes.
What’s in store at Bett UK 2025?
Looking to the future at Bett UK 2025, Goodnotes is gearing up for an even more impactful presence. Following their incredible success in 2024, when they teased the global education community with their upcoming education product, Goodnotes has doubled their stand size to showcase the app that educators have been eagerly waiting for. They will return to The Arena for an exciting and inspiring showcase of their latest innovations. Plus, if you are a coffee lover, you’ll also see Goodnotes taking centre stage as they sponsor not one but two coffee shops at next year’s event, further enhancing their engagement with attendees and providing a welcoming space for networking and demonstrations.
“We see Bett as a sort of annual reunion for us where we can rendezvous with partners from around the world. It’s a global convening place for educators, policymakers, school leaders and tech partners, and you just have to be there every year!” Dr. Minh Tran - Vice President of Operations at Goodnotes.
Goodnotes' journey and their partnership with Bett, showcases the power of innovation and collaboration within the EdTech industry.
