Once a shared understanding of the potential offered by taking a UDL (Universal Design for Learning) approach has been established, the session will consider the practical implications for actually making this happen in a busy classroom. We will start with identifying the environmental features of an inclusive classroom as these are frequently overlooked when changing practice. The pedagogical approaches to curriculum targets will be discussed with reference to capturing interest; supporting persistence and self-regulation. Throughout the session, the opportunities offered by effective choice and implementation of technology will demonstrate its central role for physical, creative and cognitive access. UDL has so much to offer in terms of creative curriculum; student independence and successful outcomes and the session aims to ignite your enthusiasm and arm you with ideas to take away and implement in your own practice.
