Participants will explore the definition of empathy and understand Empathy Week's approach to help develop it in students across the world. As a skill, empathy allows you to understand others and research shows that it can be taught whilst simultaneously also developing creativity. Empathy Week uses the power of film to achieve the vision of building an 'Empathy Generation'. A generation which leaves school as empathetic leaders, confident in themselves and trained in making human-led decisions. Participants will see the power of the films through a 90 second trailer before learning several ways to embed empathy development throughout the school year. The audience will then hear from a headteacher of a primary school in Darlington and a deputy head of a secondary in Preston about the impact of the Empathy Week programme on their students and school.
