Dr Lucy Caton is Lead for the Centre of AI in Education and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Greater Manchester, where she also serves as Programme Lead for the PGCert in Applied Generative AI for Education. Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, pedagogy, and inclusion, with a strong focus on enhancing equity and student agency through innovative educational practices.  

Lucy’s research explores the ethical and practical integration of AI in teaching and learning, particularly in relation to neurodivergent learners, formative feedback, and inclusive curriculum design. She is widely recognised for her collaborative, school-based research and multi-agency partnerships, which foreground the voices of learners and educators in shaping AI-enhanced practice. 

An experienced educator and leader, Lucy has taught across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has received recognition for her commitment to student experience and innovative pedagogy. She is also co-author of AI-Powered Pedagogy and Curriculum Design (Routledge), contributing to growing international conversations on responsible and human-centred AI in education. 

Through her leadership, Lucy supports educators and institutions to critically engage with AI, ensuring its use is ethical, inclusive, and grounded in meaningful educational impact.
