Co-Director of Interactive Digital Design, The BRIT School
United Kingdom
Just over 10 years ago, a colleague and I started building and teaching a new art strand at The BRIT School called Interactive Digital Design. It's a specialist vocational course for 14'19-year-olds who want to gain a broad professional skill set in the digital arts. The students learn 3D animation, graphic design, game design, UX design, animation and more. We weave digital literacy flexibly into our everyday teaching and learning, from how they organise themselves and their work, to how they create it. We also use technology as a tool to adapt our provision, and ensure each learner has access and agency in their course. I studied Computer Science as a degree in the early 00s, and then moved into a TV production career prior to teaching; art and design were a hobby. I have a real passion for combining the arts with technology and seeing where one can push the other.
