James Roach is CEO of the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust in Watford, leading four primary schools serving over 1,300 pupils who speak more than 60 languages. Since establishing the trust in 2016, James has championed the principle that happy children learn, happy staff thrive, and happy people build community. His work focuses on using simple, in your pocket technology to amplify human dignity rather than replace connection, developing usage of accessible digital tools that remove barriers to belonging. Under his leadership the trust won the 2025 MAT Excellence EDI Award and became England's first MAT to achieve National Nurturing Schools accreditation across all schools. James has worked in Hertfordshire education since 2001, progressing from classroom teacher through two headships before founding the trust to ensure children in disadvantaged communities receive equal life chances.
