Department Lead for ICT/Creative Media and Computer Science, James has over 16 years of experience in education, nine of them within special educational needs. At Wilmington Academy, James leads on esports, securing brand sponsorship with leading companies and competing in the British Esports Student Championships. At the Leigh Academies Trust, James is the lead on esports across the 18 secondary schools within the MAT, making this the largest Multi Academy Trust in the UK to offer Esports in a secondary school establishment. James has established Wilmington Academy as one of the best competing schools to offer esports in the British Federation Student Champs, with one Semi-Final and two Quarter Final finishes in the two years competing. In 2021 James started the BTEC Esports, which now has over 50 level 3 learners, with over 150 pupils engaging with esports as an extra curricular activity.
