Dr Tao ZHAN is the Director of UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) in Moscow. He received his Ph.D from Shandong University in China, majoring in number theory and was a Research Fellow of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Freiburg in Germany, and Professor of Mathematics at Shandong University. Before joining UNESCO IITE in 2017 he served as the President of Shandong University and Jilin University, Director of Educational Management Information Center of Ministry of Education in China. Dr Zhan was a member of the Drafting Group for Incheon Declaration 2015 and the UNESCO Framework for Action Education 2030. Dr Zhan’s vision for IITE is to serve as a thought leader and innovation cluster for the ethical, inclusive and responsible integration of AI and emerging technologies in teaching, learning and education system transformation. https://iite.unesco.org
