Dr Sandy Heldsinger was a co-founder of Brightpath Progress, an innovative writing assessment methodology that utilises the advantages of rubrics, comparative judgements and automated marking. For the past ten years Sandy has led the implementation of the Brightpath Progress in schools internationally, as she continues to research and refine ways to support teachers with assessing writing Sandy coordinated the Western Australian system-level assessments, taught master level course in educational assessment to school leaders, at the University of Western Australia, and has led the development of a wide range of resources, including reporting software, to assist schools in using assessment to improve student performance. Sandy was commissioned to develop central components of the Western Australian Curriculum Outline for WA's School Curriculum and Standards Authority and she co-authored What teachers need to know about assessment and reporting which was published by the Australian Council for Educational Research.
