Bas Roset is an ICT advisor at SIVON, the Dutch ICT cooperative for primary and secondary education, specialising in digital infrastructure and strategy for schools across the Netherlands. He leads the development of SIVON’s Open Source Program Office (OSPO), a pilot funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science that helps schools make conscious and responsible choices about their digital infrastructure. Through the OSPO he promotes open source alternatives, increases transparency in software supply chains and supports schools in reducing their dependency on dominant technology providers. His work focuses on ICT strategy in education, information architecture, open source, digital autonomy and information security, as well as on collaboration between schools, governments and suppliers to strengthen sustainable and future-proof digital education. By launching open source pilots, running market consultations with suppliers and building communities of practice among schools, Bas provides practical insights into building secure, sovereign and responsible digital education systems.
