Dr Antony Makrinos
Dr Antony Makrinos is an Associate Professor in Classics in the Greek and Latin Department at University College London (UCL). He is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Advance HE and an accredited learning technology professional (CMALT) with specialisation on VR and AI. Dr Makrinos has also been a visiting Lecturer at King's College London, UCL, and Queen Mary College.
Dr Makrinos’s interests include the Homeric epics, ancient Greek education, scholarship in Byzantium, reception studies, and Classics with immersive technologies and AI. In 2025 Dr Makrinos joined Bett's Higher Education Advisory Board He is currently working on an edition of Eustathius' Commentary on Homer's Odyssey (Book 1). Dr Makrinos is a member of the UCL Academic Board where he is also the Digital Learning Lead for the Department of Greek and Latin, and also the Stream Lead of Virtual Humanities for the new Centre of Humanities at UCL.
Dr Makrinos is passionate about immersive technologies in educational environments especially in traditional fields such as the Humanities.
