Alice Douglas
Alice and her jobshare partner, Katie Tyson, are Deputy Directors – Supporting and Rewarding School Staff within the School Workforce Directorate, Department for Education. She is responsible for school teacher and school support staff pay and conditions including setting up the School Support Staff Negotiating Body, financial incentives (including policy and delivery for over £200m of bursaries and retention incentives), teacher workload and wellbeing, flexible working, teacher diversity and returners to the profession. Alice has previously been head of school admissions where she reformed the process for moving school within year and brought in new legislation to reduce the cost of school uniform. She worked in a range of roles on the free school programme, responsible for policy development and designing and running and assessment process to approve and open brand new schools in the areas of the country most in need of high quality school places.
