To help you decide if you’d like to take part, and to understand the level of commitment involved, we’ve detailed the timings and activities from now until judging day. Whilst we hope to be able to include everyone that applies, we’ve had to cap the number of students to 60, in order to ensure the day is enjoyable and most importantly, a safe day for everyone.

Requirements for schools taking part
- Have an enthusiastic group of pupils and staff able to travel to the ExCeL, London on Friday 24 January 2025.
- Be able to arrive promptly for a full day of activities from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
- Be prepared to get stuck into touring the show floor within the assigned groups; helping students select winners within a set category; keeping track of shortlisted companies and stand numbers; helping students write copy for the Awards Ceremony to convey why they chose each winner and helping students rehearse their lines.
- Chaperone your students throughout the day.
- Be able to use your school Twitter account to share tweets in the run-up to the event and on the day.
- Help your students prepare fun and simple #KidsJudgeBett posters to bring on the day.
- Decline accepting gifts from suppliers (no matter how tempting!) and putting aside any bias or product loyalty.
Further details
- School groups will be given an area, approximately 1/8 of the show floor, to judge over a 2-hour period.
- The area of the show floor is decided and allocated by Katy Potts.
- Experience of having visited Bett before is useful, but not essential.
- Teachers are required to stay with their pupils for the entire duration.
- The active role of the teacher is required over the whole day.
- Teachers are asked to help facilitate their student’s route around the show floor visiting stands, the quick turnaround of category judging results, supporting students to write scripts and rehearse lines, and participation in the award ceremony.
- Students, guardians, and teachers are happy to be photographed and filmed during the judging and awards ceremony. Images may be used in future Bett
marketing of Kids Judge Bett. - Schools that are new to KJB can bring up to 6 students each, and returning schools can bring up to 4 students each.
