Smart Symbols is supportive software for early childhood education. Input comes from teachers by planning activities, preferably linked to one or more learning objectives. But unlike traditional LMS, input comes also from the children themselves. Smart Symbols tracks how much time each child spends on what activities (or learning objective) and with whom. Teachers get actionable information on what children are doing and how they can improve their learning by changing schedules and activities. While playing or doing activities, teachers can use Smart Symbols on their smartphone to make ad hoc individual observations and evaluations that are immediately linked to the child and the activity/learning objective. All this information is bundled together in a digital portfolio which gives teachers and parents a clear picture of the child’s learning progress.
