The NHS digital 'Mental Health of Children and Young People in England' survey highlights that 1 in 6 children aged 5-16 years were identified as having a probable mental health problem in July 2020 showing an increase from 1 in 9 in 2017. That's five children in every classroom. The tall task now is for teachers to not only close the learning gap but also bridge the emotional development gap. This CPD session for teachers offers support on how to spot the signs of students who may be experiencing distress due to poor mental health. Understand how emotional health influences learning outcomes and explore strategies to catch emotional triggers. Gain ideas to develop a nurturing and therapeutic environment where children and young people are seen, heard and feelings are validated. This session will empower staff to respond to behaviour symptoms within the classroom to aid life and learning recovery.
