Apprenticeships for the school workforce: Recruit, retrain, retain
During the session we will be looking at the cycle of staff recruitment and training need and how school leaders can prepare in advance for staff changes:
RECRUIT - attracting a wider pool of diverse applicants with the support of training by offering a recognised qualification and using apprenticeships to plan for succession
RETRAIN - keeping existing staff's skills up to date, creating new interest in roles and preparing staff for their longer-term career at little or no cost using the government levy.
RETAIN - keeping key staff in their role through investing in their skills, using training to prepare for a new role helps retain staff in school and shows a development culture.
