Technology to support reading and writing for children with complex learning needs
This session will highlight ways to make literacy meaningful for all learners, especially those with complex learning, access and communication needs. Aimed at educators working in specialist settings, it will offer practical strategies for creating inclusive, accessible literacy experiences that foster real engagement and communication. Participants will leave with a range of actionable ideas, including ways to support writing through alternative access tools such as adaptive keyboards, mice and joysticks; how to support shared reading with symbols and simple talking buttons; how to create an accessible digital library using tools such as PowerPoint and Keynote and how to create bespoke communication symbols with 3D printing.
