Reflections on Ofsted’s new era: Transparency, inclusion, and accountability in practice
With Ofsted’s new inspection framework now in place, many schools and colleges across England having already experienced what the reforms mean in practice, Laura McInerney, Founder of Teacher Tapp, sits down with Sir Martyn Oliver, His Majesty’s Chief Inspector, to reflect on what’s changed and what that means for teachers, leaders, parents and students. Drawing on the first wave of inspections under the new framework, they’ll explore how schools are responding to greater transparency for parents, the strengthened focus on inclusion, context, and evidence-based judgment, the demand for robust evidence of impact and a more nuanced approach to accountability.
Expect honest insights into the early outcomes, key learnings, and areas of challenge emerging from implementation so far. Designed for educators, school leaders, inclusion leads, governors and trustees, this session bridges policy and practice, equipping attendees with sharper clarity on how the new Ofsted landscape is taking shape and what it will take for schools to thrive, not just comply, in this new era of inspection. Looking ahead, they’ll also consider how assessment and accountability may continue to evolve beyond 2025.
