While over 90% of schools in England now have phone-ban policies, the real challenge across the UK is turning policy into meaningful change for teachers, students, and the wider school community. This panel examines what happens when schools go beyond policy to implement more structured phone-free programmes and explores the benefits, complexities, and community effort required for them to succeed. Listen to a pioneer of the phone-free schools’ movement, a policymaker and early advocate for restricting phones, and a school leader who has implemented a fully phone-free environment as they share evidence and reflections. The session invites an open exploration of what genuine “disconnection from phones” means for learning, relationships, and wellbeing.
