Digital Poverty Alliance

The Digital Poverty Alliance (DPA) is a UK charity working to end digital poverty, with a long-standing focus on how digital access shapes educational opportunity. This year marks 25 years of work grounded in a simple but persistent reality: when learning depends on technology, access matters.

As education has become increasingly digital by default, gaps in access have become harder to ignore. Online platforms now underpin homework, assessment, communication, and support. For pupils without reliable access to technology or connectivity, exclusion is rarely dramatic. It is incremental, compounding, and often unseen.

The DPA brings evidence, policy insight, and practical understanding into education debates, helping schools, policymakers, and partners recognise where digital exclusion persists and how it affects learners in real settings. The focus is not technology for its own sake, but access as a condition for participation.

After 25 years, the message remains clear. Digital access is part of education’s infrastructure.
