The tech economy is experiencing a high demand for talent, with tech job openings 42% higher in June 2021 compared to 2019. In the first half of 2021, tech firms raised over $18bn in venture capital investment, breaking annual records. The tech industry currently employs nearly 3 million people and is expected to continue growing. However, the UK is facing a shortage of tech workers, with over 2 million tech vacancies and 12 million workers lacking necessary digital skills. Tech Nation has warned that this shortage could hinder growth in the sector.
