Creating online safety strategies for young players
The safety of young people in esports is paramount, in both the physical and online space. What considerations need to be given to safeguarding in esports? What can we learn from traditional sport?
With more students engaging in esports, the need for comprehensive safeguarding practices to address bullying, online harassment, gambling harms and data privacy has never been more crucial. This discussion brings together a panel of voices from youth-protection charities and education to discuss the emerging challenges in protecting young gamers.
Join us in this session to understand some of the risks involved and our responsibilities to mitigate them. Learn how we can protect and support young people while they are following their passion and participating in esports. Moderated by British Esports' Tom Dore, we will hear from representatives from UNICEF UK and UK Coaching who will share insights on their work with British Esports and support for educators, including the Parents and Carers Guide to Esports, the Introduction to Esports Coaching Award and the International Safeguards for Children Report.
This session will be crucial to those considering introducing their students to esports as well as those who are well into their esports journey.
